freespace2 software package provides open implementation of the Freespace 2 game engine, you can install in your Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install freespace2
freespace2 is installed in your system.
Make ensure the freespace2 package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep freespace2 *
You will get with freespace2 package name, version, architecture and description in a table
